Depression
Depression is a serious, yet treatable condition that affects about 19 million Americans. It causes a persistent feeling of sadness and loss of interest and may even lead to suicidal thoughts.
People suffering from depression may experience:
*excessive sleepiness, insomnia, or restlessness
*changes in appetite
*social isolation
*lack of concentration or memory problems
*agitation and irritability
*feeling hopeless, worthless, and/or guilty
*a loss of interest in things they previously enjoyed
Research indicated that the most effective mental health treatment for depression is cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) which will teach a person to change thoughts and behaviors in order to improve their mood, break unhealthy habits, and get well again.
